‘Powering Queensland beyond Carbon Tax and LNG exports – options for Queensland’s future base load power’


The shape of Queensland’s power industry is about to change with the rapid development of coal seam methane to LNG projects, significant development in the coal export industry and the introduction of carbon pricing.

During this presentation Andrew Murdoch, PB’s Queensland Power Generation Team Executive, will provide a briefing on recognised base load power generation technologies suitable for Queensland, their relative costs and carbon intensity with a view to stimulating discussion on the Carbon Tax issue that will have significant impact on the state’s sustainability and economy.


Andrew Murdock – Parsons Brinckerhoff Power Generation Executive

Andrew is an experienced owner’s side project manager and engineer in the energy industry, who provides owner’s engineering and lender’s engineering services and strategic energy consulting services. Andrew’s owner’s side power plant construction experience is utilised for the provision of owner’s engineering services, specification development, contract negotiations and lender’s engineering services. Andrew has successfully led the owner’s side project management on the construction of two major power developments in Queensland.

Andrew’s strategic energy consulting services include undertaking investigations on behalf of developers to tailor energy and infrastructure solutions to the needs of their business. Such services include undertaking power supply studies for major power consumers such as mines, undertaking siting studies to determine the optimal location for power plants, advising clients with respect to fuel and power supply agreements and providing advice with respect to power plant project development as well as providing transaction support.

Andrew is also the Generation team executive for Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
